Johannes Schöllhorn
Born in 1962 in Murnau, he studied composition in Freiburg with Klaus Huber, Emanuel Nunes and Mathias Spahlinger, music theory with Peter Förtig and attended conducting courses with Peter Eötvös.Johannes Schöllhorn’s work spans many genres from chamber and vocal music to works for orchestra and music theater. He is also involved in a variety of ways with transcompositions of music from the Renaissance to the present day.
He collaborates with numerous international soloists, ensembles and orchestras and has received several international composition prizes and awards. In 1997 he was the winner of the Comitée de Lecture of the Ensemble Intercontemporain and in 2009 he received the Praetorius Music Prize of the Land Niedersachsen.
Johannes Schöllhorn taught at the Musikhochschule Zürich/Winterthur and was professor of composition at the Musikhochschulen in Hannover and Cologne. Since October 2017 he is professor of composition at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and director of the Institute for New Music.
He taught several times at the composition seminar of the Fondation Royaumont (F) as well as the Bartók Festival (HU) and gave composition courses in Belgium, England, France, Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, Russia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Iran and Chile. – www.johannes-schoellhorn.de
